1. About This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit SYSOPGUY, contact me or request remote Linux and server support.
SYSOPGUY is a personal project operated by one Linux system administrator and provides occasional remote technical support to private individuals on a case-by-case basis.
For privacy-related questions, you can contact me at:
2. Data I May Collect
I only collect personal data that is reasonably necessary to respond to requests, provide technical assistance, maintain security or operate the website.
Depending on how you use the website, this may include:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number, if voluntarily provided;
- the type of service you are interested in;
- information about your server or system;
- the description of your technical problem;
- information you voluntarily include in emails or other communications;
- technical data contained in web server, mail server and security logs.
Please do not send passwords, private keys, recovery phrases or other sensitive credentials through the public contact form.
3. Contact Form and Communications
When you submit the contact form, the information you provide is used only to:
- review your request;
- determine whether I may be able to help;
- contact you regarding that request;
- arrange a technical intervention where appropriate;
- prevent abuse or misuse of the website.
Submitting the contact form does not subscribe you to a newsletter or marketing list.
I do not use submitted contact details for unsolicited advertising.
4. Technical Logs
The web server, mail server and security systems may automatically generate technical logs.
These logs may include information such as:
- IP address;
- date and time of access;
- requested page or resource;
- browser or user-agent information;
- HTTP response status;
- mail server connection information;
- technical errors;
- events related to security, spam prevention or abuse detection.
These logs are used only where necessary for technical operation, troubleshooting, security, fraud prevention and abuse prevention.
They are not used to build advertising profiles.
5. Cloudflare
SYSOPGUY uses Cloudflare for DNS, web proxying, security and protection against malicious traffic.
As a result, certain technical information related to website requests may be processed by Cloudflare as part of delivering and protecting the website.
Cloudflare operates under its own privacy terms and data protection practices.
6. Cloudflare Turnstile
The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate users from automated bots and to protect the website against spam and abuse.
Turnstile may process technical information necessary to perform this verification.
It is used solely for security and abuse prevention, not for advertising or behavioural profiling.
Cloudflare provides separate information about its Turnstile privacy practices.
7. No Analytics, Advertising or Profiling
SYSOPGUY does not use:
- Google Analytics;
- advertising trackers;
- marketing pixels;
- behavioural profiling systems;
- personalised advertising;
- newsletter tracking.
I do not build advertising profiles of visitors.
I do not sell personal data.
8. Why Data Is Processed
Personal data may be processed where necessary to:
- respond to a request you voluntarily submit;
- take steps requested by you before providing a service;
- provide an agreed technical service;
- operate and secure the website and related infrastructure;
- prevent spam, abuse, fraud or unauthorised activity;
- comply with legal obligations where applicable.
9. Data Sharing
I do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
Personal data may only be processed or transmitted where necessary through technical service providers involved in operating or protecting the website, such as hosting infrastructure, email systems or Cloudflare.
Data may also be disclosed where required by law or by a valid request from a competent authority.
10. Data Retention
Personal data is not kept longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Contact requests and communications may be retained for as long as necessary to manage the request, provide assistance, maintain appropriate records or deal with possible follow-up issues.
Technical logs are retained only for operational, diagnostic and security purposes and should be deleted or rotated when no longer necessary.
Where a legal obligation requires certain information to be retained for a specific period, that obligation may take precedence. The GDPR principle is that personal data should be kept no longer than necessary for the purpose for which it is processed.
11. Data Security
I use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data and the infrastructure on which it is processed.
These measures may include:
- HTTPS encryption;
- restricted administrative access;
- server security controls;
- firewalling;
- anti-abuse protections;
- Cloudflare security services;
- Turnstile protection on the contact form;
- technical logging for security and diagnostics.
However, no website, server or internet communication system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
12. Your Rights
Depending on applicable data protection law, you may have the right to request:
- access to your personal data;
- correction of inaccurate data;
- deletion of your data;
- restriction of processing;
- objection to certain processing;
- portability of your data, where applicable.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.
Under the GDPR, individuals have rights including access, correction and, in applicable cases, deletion of personal data.
